BAG – Tripdream / Nothing Will Remain
The Amsterdam based band Bag derived its name from “Bagism”, an art form invented by Yoko Ono. The group was brought together by Don H.G. Peijters, the man behind Flame Records. His trump card was Tripdream, a song that, in the first few bars, was slight reminiscent of Pink Floyd's Astronomy Dominee, but after that completely sounded as Tripdream. The Leslie sound of lead guitarist Leo Schelvis and flanger of guitarist Richard Koh put a “heavy psychedelic” stamp on their sound. The recordings took place at the Music Farm studio in Baambrugge, where The Beach Boys later spent months finishing their Holland album. Shortly after the release of Tripdream Flame Records went bankrupt, so Bag did not get the credit the band actually deserved. It was only years after the release that many saw Tripdream as “the best Dutch psychedelic single ever”.
